vehicle wrap installation

A vehicle wrap consists of three main components; Design, Print, and Installation.

  • Design - most designs are done by a professional Graphics Artist. We are able to use both in-house and outsourced artists which allow us to tailor the customer's needs to the artists skills. As an artist, the designer works with the customer to combine the important elements of the wrap into an effective advertisement. The design process begins with a consultation during which the customer tells the designer exactly what they want the wrap to do. A good design must do three things: get attention, tell people who you are, tell people how to contact you. One of our artists will make sure your wrap does all three things every time your vehicle is seen. After the initial consultation, the artist begins creating the actual design and provides examples for the customer to approve or modify.

The standard design package includes initial consultation and two revisions and in most cases this is all that is needed to arrive at a design that is just what you imagined. We use special computer templates which are a digital outline of a vehicle. Our software includes thousands of vehicles which means in most cases the customer will be able to see their design as it will look on their vehicle. Usually at some point we will take a measurement from the actual vehicle we will be working on just to be sure that the design fits accurately. Traffic Graffics is also happy to work with any other designer that a customer has a working relationship with. If a customer wants to provide their own design, we will work with your designer to ensure all goes well.

  • Print - using computer controlled digital eco-solvent inkjet printers, we carefully lay out and print the design to vinyl. This process, which can take several hours or longer, is constantly monitored for quality. If at any time we are not completely satisfied with the print quality, the job stops until we find and fix the problem. Once we have successfully printed the design, the vinyl is sent through the laminating equipment and given final preparation for installation.

  • Installation - the surface to be wrapped must be clean in order for the material to adhere properly. We ask customers to bring in their vehicle in "just washed" clean condition to avoid extra charges for cleaning. This initial cleaning is only the first step. Every inch of the vehicle to be wrapped is cleaned with solvent and wiped down with alcohol. Once this is done, a trained experienced installer begins applying the vinyl using special tools and equipment. The installer will use heat to stretch and shrink the material to fit every curve of the vehicle and make sure the materials is properly stuck down. The installer will make sure no bubbles or air pockets remain. We always follow the manufacturers recommended procedures to make sure we are installing the product as it was designed.

  • How long does it take - The design process can be done in as little as a day or two but generally you will want to take plenty of time to review and revise your design to be certain that your design is just right. It is not unusual for the design process to take two weeks, it all depends on how much time is needed to get it just right. Once the design is approved, we begin layout and print. During this time we do several checks for color and fit before doing the finished print, then allow proper dry time before doing the lamination. This part of the process usually takes one or two days.

The last step, installation, takes anywhere from one to four days. During this time, your vehicle is kept inside our shop and while we clean, fit, and apply the product. Add it all up and a full custom wrap can take a week or two, sometimes less, sometimes more. Contact Traffic Graffics to discuss your particular needs and time frames.
